We aren’t made of lines, yet we see them everywhere. Our brains simplify what we see, using shortcuts to make sense of the world. We complete incomplete images, prioritize movement, recognizE patterns. and can reduce something as complex as the human form to a few marks on paper. According to Gestalt Visual theory this it’s one of our oldest and most intuitive ways of seeing and it helped us hunt, gather and detect danger.
I believe that our mind Engages most in Art when the artist leaves room for the  viewer's subconscious mind to participate by filling in what is left out.
